If you are patient, the text box below will expand until you can read the whole messge.
In this Module, we will start to create a library of reusable code -- and it will be code you probably will want to reuse! We'll learn about browser detection so you never have to say, "but it looked so good on my browser..." :-( We will also learn about library functions for object positioning and for window size manipulations and we'll create drop-down menus, collapsible menus, and learn how to control how much of an image visitors can see.
Read through Chapter 4 in DHTML and CSS. As you read, work through the sample code to create a code library file. You'll be happy you did. This will not only help you understand what is going on, but you'll use the file you create for your homework.
Then read Chapter 5 in DHTML and CSS. Once again, if you type in the examples in the chapter as you read, you will find this will help you a great deal when you start the homework.
- Here's what you will do:
- Read and work through the examples and listings in Chapter 4 of the DHTML and CSS book (Building Your Dynamic Code Library), pp. 71-92
- Read and work through the examples and listings in Chapter 5 of the DHTML and CSS book (Creating Dynamic Visibility Applications), pp. 93-120.
- From Chapter 4, complete Hands-On Exercises 1 and 3. Then choose either Exercise 4 or 5. These exercises are on p. 92
- From Chapter 5, complete Hands-On Exercises 1, 2, and 4 on p. 120.
- As always, you can use your own site or create brand new pages for this homework.
